C.D. Leganés presented this Monday Yassine Kechta as the new pepinero footballer. The Franco-Moroccan midfielder, who arrives after a long stage at Le Havre in Ligue 1, showed himself excited in his presentation as a blue-and-white player.
The football director of Leganés, Andrés Pardo, began by opening the presentation act and welcoming Kechta: "It is a stroke of luck and a pleasure to have Yassine with us. Since January, this situation developed and has culminated now. He is a player of incalculable value and talent, with more than a hundred matches in France and desired by many European clubs. I wish him the best of luck."
Kechta: "I'm honored to be here"
On his part, Kechta assured being "very happy to be here. The Leganés project is one that had caught my attention for a while and it is a source of pride to be able to be here."
Excitement to be in Leganés: "Everything happened very quickly. Contacts took place at the beginning of the year, but I was at another club and in these past two weeks it accelerated. I am very happy and excited to be here and grateful for this opportunity."
How he defines himself as a player: "I am a player who is generous in my efforts. I like playing football, helping my teammates, and putting in those efforts on the pitch to do everything for the team."
Adaptation to Spanish football: "French football is more closed, physical, and athletic. I have the perception that Spanish football is more tactical and technical, and in that sense, I feel prepared for this style."
Frustrated arrival in January: "The transfer had to happen very quickly and there was no time to rethink the family situation. I thought it was not the right moment to leave, whereas now it is the time to start a new project with fresh air."
First sensations: "Very good, both with the coach and the staff. Having players who speak French helps, my teammates are going to help me. I hope to learn the language as soon as possible and adapt quickly to the team."
Moroccan players in Leganés: "Spanish and Moroccan football have certain similarities in the technical aspect and that favors the adaptation of players to LALIGA. We also have Marvel, who was born in Morocco, and he is a quality player who is going to help me adapt."
Objectives: "The main one is to improve as a footballer and work on certain aspects of my game, like reaching the goal more. On a collective level, to improve as a team, be a cohesive unit, and I hope we fight for promotion. I am happy, excited, and eager to show my personality to help the team."
Morocco in the World Cup: "For me, it was a great experience to win the bronze medal at the Olympic Games. I think they have played a great role in the World Cup and that they will continue to grow ahead of the next World Cup."
Andrés Pardo: "I'm sure he's going to give us a lot"
Subsequently, it was Andrés Pardo's turn to respond to the questions from the communications media:
What he can contribute: "We have always had it very clear with him. In January, he made the decision not to take that step, and from then on it has been a very natural process with him and his environment. We have been in contact almost all these months. He is a player of very high value and had many interested teams. We intensified the situation a few weeks ago. He is a player who can play in many positions, very versatile, and with an enormous quality. I am sure he is going to help us a lot."
Next steps: "There are still some departures left to happen. In terms of arrivals, we have a clear direction regarding squad building, and more situations will continue to develop over these weeks."
Juan Cruz and Pauwels: "Both had some discomfort and we chose not to risk anyone. Everyone played 45 minutes and they rested."
Situation regarding departures: "We have had eight departures. Everyone knows their situation, and then there are cases with more proactivity from either the player or the club. These are standard things that will be resolved during the summer."
The midfield: "It might look like there are many central midfielders, but Zico or Yassine can play starting from the wing and moving inside. Within that versatility, there are players who can appear in different areas. But yes, it could be an area susceptible to departures."
First friendly: "It is difficult to analyze because we only had three training sessions. Some ideas were transmitted and the team looked good, serious, with rhythm, and showing some of the things that the boss wants."
Javi Garrido: "We have a very clear idea with him. He is a kid we count on, an important player for the future at Leganés, a goalkeeper with very good attributes, and one in whom we trust a lot."
