C.D. Leganés unveils a commemorative armband to mark the 400th anniversary of the town of Leganés 

This Sunday, during its match against Granada C.F. at Ontime Butarque Stadium, C.D. Leganés will debut a new captain’s armband designed to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Leganés as a town—an initiative promoted by the Leganés City Council, which the club is supporting as one of the city’s most representative organizations.

Through this initiative, C.D. Leganés aims to demonstrate its commitment to a historic milestone for all residents of Leganés, actively participating in the promotion and celebration of this important anniversary that marks four centuries of history since the town was granted the title of “Villa.”

A design incorporating various elements symbolic of our city

The new armband incorporates various elements that symbolize the city, including references to its coat of arms, which displays the arms of the first Marquis of Leganés, Don Diego Mexía Felípez de Guzmán: the interlaced cauldrons, an ancient noble symbol linked to the Guzmán lineage; the sable ermine on a silver field, an element of the noble arms inherited by the Marquis; the lagoon or “leganar,” which directly identifies the territory and origin of Leganés; and the castles and lions, which were part of the heraldic composition used by Diego Mexía de Guzmán.

In addition, the official image created for the 400th anniversary of the Town of Leganés is also featured; this image is central to the numerous institutional, cultural, and social activities taking place throughout 2026.

Strengthening the bond with the city on a special date

The Pepineros’ captains will debut this special piece starting with this Sunday’s match at Ontime Butarque against Granada C.F., taking to the field with a symbol of pride, belonging, and unity with the city that gives the club its name.

In addition, all youth academy and foundation teams will join the initiative, and their captains will wear the commemorative armband throughout the 2026–27 season.

With this initiative, C.D. Leganés continues to strengthen its bond with Leganés and its residents, joining in the celebration of such a significant milestone in the town’s history and helping to promote the 400th anniversary both within and beyond our city.
