Eduardo Cosín, C.D. Leganés' new president

The president of C.D. Leganés, Eduardo Cosín, appeared this Tuesday in his first press conference as the maximum leader of the club. Cosín spoke about the change produced after the arrival of 885 Capital as the new maximum shareholder, the season that has just finalized, and the objectives for the next one.

These were the words of his initial speech:

"Thank you to everyone for accompanying me on this day so important for the club. 885 Capital has become the maximum shareholder for the club and we give them thanks for betting on the club. It entered as a minority shareholder a few months ago and now it has redoubled its bet to stay."

"The honor and the responsibility to be president in this new stage touches me, with the ambition to build a more solid, more competitive, and closer club, both inside and outside the field. The decisions are going to be taken from Leganés, and this is going to be the only club of 885. Quite a few of you already know me, I can promise work, illusion, and respect for the club, its history, its identity, and its people."

"This season has been a failure, and the reasons are multiple. I do not believe that it is the forum to analyze them in detail, because the important thing is how one reacts before failure. The error is part of the path and the important thing is to know how to correct it. We are going to correct things and to build a club of which the fanbase feels proud. They have suffered a lot this season and it hurts me."

"To compensate that suffering in part, I would like to announce that the next season we are going to freeze mostly the price of the season tickets, and we will have a gesture for all those who have been in almost all the matches in the Ontime Butarque."

"This club has something special. When we descended to Second Division we had a record of members and we had to expand the stadium. The other day we had a record of capacity. It is a club that respects its legends and with 885 that is going to continue."

"We are going to destine more resources for the Youth Academy and consolidate it as the third best of Madrid. We are going to bring boys and girls without looking at where they come from."

"We have planned to execute an integral rehabilitation of the exterior zone of Butarque and convert it into something paved and that can convert into a better Fan Zone the days of match."

"The concession of the I.D. Butarque is fundamental to grow. Beyond continuing working with the City Council, we are in conversations with the RFFM to be able to have more fields for the School and the C.D. Leganés Foundation. We have more than a thousand children who each day educate themselves wearing the shirt of Leganés and another two thousand on the waiting list. We are decided to give them space."

Being a good president: "I am more of doing than of talking. I believe that I am prepared because I know this club and the city from top to bottom. I know how the club works, the fanbase, the Peñas, the local businessmen, the government of Leganés, the journalists who follow us… My children sleep with SuperPepino each night. I know this club and the city and I am going to work without rest to make it grow each day more."

Changes in the structure: "We are in a time of profound reflection. The people who have a contract of offices with Leganés or with punctual help with Blue Crow are going to pass to work exclusively for the club."

Project that learns from errors: "This season we have had more than others and we have to learn. The taking of decisions is going to be from Leganés. The end of multi-ownership is very important and the interest is going to be uniquely that of Leganés. I know all the people who work in 885 since a year ago and they have been helping in all that they have been able to since the first moment. They wanted Leganés and to have a single club. Being able to center ourselves on one single one is relevant. Not one euro of Leganés has been part of the transaction. All has come out of the pocket of 885, because they wanted that the good economic situation of the club continued as until now."

Sporting objectives: "The principal thing is to reconstruct to make a team of which the fanbase feels proud. I believe that it is the first thing that we have to do. We have learned from what has happened this season, one has to be prudent and respect this category, which is tremendously difficult. We do not dream small and the ambition continues there and it is very big. The new property is going to bet more, with more caution, but without limits."

Capital gain of Yan Diomande: "It belongs to the club. All that the club has entered or is going to enter belongs to the club and it will be our responsibility to reinvest it the best possible to have success."

Sporting direction: "We are not valuing anything in particular. It deserves a few days of profound reflection at all levels. The failures have been committed at the level of direction, squad, sporting direction… We all have to reflect and take firm decisions convinced."

What he can contribute from the presidency now without BCS: "885 comes and exits from Blue Crow to give me the responsibility to manage this club and destine all the resources into making it bigger. I know the club, the city, and the interlocutors of Spanish football. Four years ago people came who did not know the city and the ecosystem of football and now it is the contrary scenario."

Coach: "We did not have the opportunity to present Carlos Martínez due to times. We thank him publicly for the bravery that he had in assuming the role with five training sessions ahead. It was the first decision that I took as acting president, we did not want to destabilize due to the situation so delicate. It was not easy, but we did it with the conviction that a change was needed, knowing that it is not the usual thing. We called him and he told us that he would come walking, he has an incredible value and it is to be thanked. Carlos has a position assured in the club and so it will be if he wants. We are not in a position to say right now in what role, but if he wants he will continue with us in his home."

Deadlines to take decisions: "Football does not wait. We have the squad on vacation, but we know that we have to do it in very little time. We have one or two weeks to take the best decisions and when they are firm we will communicate them."

Operation in case of descent: "I ignore if it would have happened or not. If we had gone down, the conversations would have been resumed, but we are not in that scenario."

Season ticket campaign: "We do not have it completely designed yet. If the club did not arrive to playoff it was discounted from the season ticket of the season that comes and that will happen."

Chain of command: "The taking of decisions is going to be here. It is not going to be a presidentialist club, we are going to create a work group with Martín Ortega, Mantovani, sporting direction, and others, to take decisions with the support of the new property."

Transition process: "885 enters a year ago as a minority investor without capacity to take decisions, but with desires to help. In October they acquire 15% of the capital of the club and they begin to bet more. A few months ago the conversation opens to independent ourselves from the multi-ownership and emancipate and look after its own interests together with us."

Exit of Jeff Luhnow: "We did not want to announce anything to not destabilize. Yesterday he said goodbye to the squad and to the employees and he knows that he has the doors open."

Possible capital increase: "It is not necessary. If it were, they would be willing to do it, but we are in a healthy situation and with an 'A' qualification from LALIGA. The important thing was that the money stayed in Leganés and that is what they have done. For now, with that it is sufficient."

Personal change from Blue Crow to 885 Capital: "I am the same person. I was based in Leganés and my absolute priority was Leganés. Blue Crow was something circumstantial. My responsibility was to look after the interests of the club and as in every family there may have been points of friction. The backing of 885 has come well to be able to help. The example is the last week to be able to arrive the best possible to the match of Sunday. In Cádiz we were defeated and the mission was not to go out to the field thinking that we had already descended. We did things at an internal level, the fanbase responded, and we demonstrated that Lega is very alive and that the measures we took work."
