C.D. Leganés failed to earn any points in their away match against Cádiz C.F. (4-0), in a game corresponding to Matchday 8 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION 2026/27. Antoñito (2), Vladys, and Moueffek scored the home team’s goals.
Rubén Albés made just one change to the blue-and-white starting lineup from the previous matchday, bringing Ismaël Gharbi back into the team following his international duty with Tunisia, while Dutch player Zico Buurmeester remained on the bench this time. The match got off to a rough start for the Pepineros, as Antoñito put Cádiz ahead in the 5th minute with a low left-footed shot that left Luca helpless. It was 1-0 for the home team.
Antoñito put Cádiz ahead in the first half
The Pepineros tried to recover from the early blow but were unable to create any danger in front of the opponent’s goal in the opening stretch of the match. Gharbi had a chance in the 19th minute, though after the home defense blocked his shot, Luca had to step in to deflect a follow-up attempt by Vladys into a corner kick. In the 24th minute, a dangerous cross from Sancris on the right just missed finding a finisher. And in the 30th minute, Gharbi capped off a long attacking sequence with another shot blocked by the yellow-clad defense.
In the 35th minute, neither the referee nor VAR deemed a tackle by Juan Díaz on Gharbi inside the box—in which the Tunisian was brought down from behind—to be a penalty. Shortly afterward, David Gil blocked a cross-goal shot by Naim, and Gharbi’s follow-up was deflected by the defense for a corner kick. In the 40th minute, it was Sancris who tried his luck from distance after a turnover in the opponent’s half, but his shot sailed over the crossbar. The score remained 1-0 at halftime.
Vladys, Antoñito, and Moueffek sealed the victory in the second half
With no changes at the start of the second half, Rubén Albés did, however, switch the wing-backs’ positions, moving Naim to the right and Sancris to the left. Gharbi tried his luck from outside the box in the 50th minute, and in the 52nd minute, Luca blocked a shot by Vladys to prevent Cádiz’s second goal. On the rebound from the corner kick, Vladys himself capitalized on a loose ball to make it 2-0.
In the 60th minute, Rubén Albés made a four-player substitution in an effort to spark a reaction from the team, bringing on Pulido, Dani Rodríguez, Zico, and Unax for Marvel, Sancris, Atienza, and Soko, respectively. Naim tried his luck on a direct free kick in the 70th minute, but David Gil punched away the left-footed shot from the academy product. On the very next play, in the 71st minute, Antoñito beat Luca again to make it 3-0. Leganés’ final substitution saw Tejero return from injury, replacing Montero in the 78th minute. In the 82nd minute, the score became 4-0, courtesy of Moueffek.
Leganés now has eleven points in the standings, and their next match will be on Sunday, the 11th (4:15 p.m.), again on the road against U.D. Almería.
