C.D. Leganés was unable to earn any points on its visit to U.D. Almería (3-0) in a match corresponding to Matchday 9 of LALIGA HYPERMOTION. Miguel (2) and Chirino scored the home team’s goals in the second half.
Rubén Albés made four changes to the Pepinera lineup from the loss in Cádiz, bringing Ignasi Miquel, Álvaro Tejero, Zico Buurmeester, and Dani Rodríguez into the starting lineup. The Blue-and-Whites, playing in their away uniforms, lined up in their usual 5-3-2 formation, with Naim and Tejero as wingbacks playing on the opposite side of their usual foot.
An even first half ended scoreless
With Leganés well-organized from the start, the home team dominated possession but failed to create any major scoring chances. In the 21st minute, Leganés had its first shot on goal, a left-footed strike by Naim from outside the box that went wide. Shortly afterward, another dangerous attack following a turnover in the opponent’s half was nearly finished by Gharbi and then Zico, but Almería’s defense cleared the ball.
In the 29th minute, Luca made his first save, confidently blocking a header by Thalys off a corner kick. Naim responded again with another long-range shot in the 31st minute, which Andrés Fernández saved. Thalys struck again in the 44th minute, heading a cross from the wing for Almería, which Luca saved without much difficulty. It was the final play of a first half that ended in a scoreless tie.
Two goals by Miguel and one by Chirino decided the outcome in the second half
With no changes for Leganés at the start of the second half, the first chance went to the Pepineros, with a header by Ignasi Miquel that went wide following a corner kick. However, in the 51st minute, Almería took the lead thanks to a goal by Miguel, who fired a first-time shot across the goal that left Luca helpless. In the 56th minute, the same forward extended the lead to 2-0 with a header that widened the gap for the home team.
In the 60th minute, Almería scored their third goal, this time by Chirino, who finished off a quick counterattack. In the 63rd minute, Rubén Albés made four substitutions, bringing on Montero, Franquesa, Kechta, and Soko in place of Marvel, Tejero, Atienza, and Gharbi. In the 70th minute, Álex Millán replaced Morata in Madrid’s final substitution. The match ended with a final score of 3-0.
Leganés remains on 11 points in the standings and will face Córdoba C.F. on Friday (8:30 p.m.) at Ontime Butarque Stadium.
